Wimbledon Vehicle Recovery: Two Weeks of Chaos and Fifty of Normal
For fifty weeks of the year Wimbledon is a straightforward area to recover from: the A219 up Wimbledon Hill to the Village and on to Parkside, the A238 through the Broadway to Raynes Park, and the A24 Morden Road down to South Wimbledon and Morden. Then the tennis arrives, Church Road and Somerset Road close, shuttle buses take over Parkside, and every street in Wimbledon Park fills with people who have driven from Kent and parked on a permit-only road. We keep drivers close during the fortnight for exactly that reason.
K9 Recovery is a 24/7, 365-day recovery company with its heaviest concentration of trucks in London. No membership, no queue; a person answers 07301 118118 and the price is agreed before the truck rolls.

Tennis fortnight: what changes and what does not
What changes is access. Church Road is closed to through traffic, Somerset Road and Bathgate Road are managed, and Southfields station becomes a pedestrian river. What does not change is that we still get to you. Our drivers approach from the Parkside side or from Wimbledon Park Road according to where you are, and they know which stewarded points let a recovery truck through. If your car is on a residential street with a temporary suspension, we can move it before the enforcement does.
Wimbledon Hill and the Village
The Hill is steep enough to expose a slipping clutch or a weak handbrake, and the Village at the top has narrow one-way sections around the High Street and Church Road. A car that has failed on the Hill is loaded facing uphill with the truck below it; that is not a job for a rope and a Land Rover. Prestige and classic cars are common up here and go on with low-angle ramps.
Broadway, station and the shopping centre
The Broadway between the station and the Alexandra Road junction is buses, taxis and delivery vans all day. The Centre Court car park has height limits, so we ask which level you are on before sending a truck that will not fit. If the vehicle rolls we meet it outside on Queens Road.
Plough Lane on a match day
AFC Wimbledon at home means Plough Lane, Durnsford Road and Haydons Road fill and empty in two bursts. Between those bursts recovery is easy. During them, we approach from the Garratt Lane end and load on a side street. Motorcycles are a big part of the Plough Lane crowd; our motorcycle recovery in London team straps at the frame and carries them upright.
Raynes Park, Southfields and Morden Road
- Raynes Park: Coombe Lane and the Bushey Road junction, plus the station approach with its railway bridge.
- Southfields: Wimbledon Park Road and Replingham Road, permit parking and a lot of electric cars, which are carried on a flatbed only.
- A24 Morden Road: the dual-carriageway section past Merton Abbey Mills, where we position behind you and shield the lane.
Every vehicle, any destination
Cars, vans, 4x4s, taxis, caravans, motorhomes and non-runners all travel with us, and heavier vehicles up to around 30 tonnes go to the London heavy team. Onward transport to any address in the UK is on the same booking through 3,000 vetted drivers. Every job is fully insured, and we are rated 4.9/5 from more than 200 Google reviews. Wimbledon is part of the London vehicle recovery network that gives this side of the city its quick response.

Wimbledon-specific recovery questions
My car has died on Church Road during the Championships. Can you actually reach it?
Yes. Church Road is closed to general traffic but not to recovery vehicles on service business. Tell us which end you are nearer, the Village or Somerset Road, and the driver will come through the appropriate stewarded point. Expect it to take a little longer than a normal day; we will give you a straight estimate.
I have a flat tyre and no spare on Wimbledon Hill. Is that a recovery or a repair?
It is a recovery to a tyre place of your choice unless you carry a compressor kit that can get you moving. We load facing uphill so nothing rolls, and we can take you to a fitter on the Broadway or wherever you prefer.
I parked on a Wimbledon Park street with a temporary bay suspension and now the car will not start. What are my options?
Ring us before the suspension time; it is far cheaper than a removal. We can try a jump-start first and, if that fails, load and move the car to a legal space or straight to a garage.
The Wimbledon team also covers
Morden at the bottom of the A24, Mitcham across the common and New Malden through Raynes Park. The full areas list has every location.
