Wembley vehicle recovery on match days, concert nights and ordinary Tuesdays

Wembley is two places. Most of the year it is a north-west London suburb with the A406 North Circular running along its eastern edge, the A404 Harrow Road through the middle, Wembley Central and Sudbury on the Harrow side and Neasden on the other. Then, on event days, the stadium and the Arena fill up, the road closures come in around Olympic Way, Engineers Way and Great Central Way, and the whole area operates on different rules. We recover vehicles here every day of the year, at every hour, and our drivers are used to both versions.

Event days: how we get to you

Before kick-off

Roads around the stadium start closing hours ahead of the event, and the event-day parking restrictions cover a wide ring of residential streets. Cars that die in the crawl on the A406 or Harrow Road are recovered from those roads as normal, because they stay open. If you are inside the closure zone, we will ask for the exact street and the nearest steward point, and our driver will use the routes the stewards keep open for service vehicles.

During the event

This is the quietest time on the roads and often the easiest time to recover a car parked near the stadium that will not start. The car parks under and around Wembley Park have height limits and barriers, so we meet you at the exit unless the car can be pushed out.

After the final whistle

The hour after an event is the worst traffic of the year in Wembley. Tens of thousands of people leave on foot, the closures stay in place and the North Circular backs up in both directions. If your car will not start in that window, we will tell you honestly how long it will take and, where it helps, arrange to collect once the crowd has cleared rather than have you wait in it.

Ordinary days on the North Circular and the Harrow Road

The A406 between Neasden and Hanger Lane is the working road here. Brent Park, the Neasden underpass and the IKEA and retail park junctions produce breakdowns at speed, and there is no hard shoulder in the underpass. If the car will still roll, the retail park access roads are where we prefer to meet. Great Central Way and the Neasden industrial units around it are van territory, and the A404 Harrow Road from Wembley Central through Sudbury is a slow, bus-heavy run with Northwick Park Hospital at the far end. Wembley Central station has a rank for private hire, and cars that fail there get moved quickly so the rank keeps working.

Motorcycles around Wembley

A lot of people ride to events because the parking is easier, and a bike that will not start at midnight outside the Arena is a regular call. We recover motorcycles and scooters strapped upright on a flatbed with the covers on, not on a tow rope, and take them to your home or a dealer. There is more on how we secure different bike types on our London motorcycle recovery page.

The vehicles and the terms

  • Cars, 4x4s and non-runners, including anything that has sat under the flyover for weeks.
  • Electric vehicles, always flatbed, driven wheels off the ground.
  • Vans and light commercials from the Great Central Way and Park Royal side.
  • Taxis and private hire, prestige and classic cars, caravans and motorhomes.
  • Onward transport to any address in the UK.

The number is 07301 118118. There is no membership, no queue, and the price is agreed before the truck rolls. Every recovery is fully insured, the Google score is 4.9 out of 5 from more than 200 reviews, and behind the call is a network of 3,000 vetted drivers that is heaviest in London, which is why our London vehicle recovery service has the fastest response anywhere in the country.

Wembley questions we hear most

Can you get into the event-day closure zone around Olympic Way to recover my car?

Usually, yes, but not instantly. The closures are managed by stewards and the police, and our driver will use the service routes they keep open. Give us the exact street, the nearest steward point and your registration, and we will tell you honestly whether it is quicker to collect now or once the roads reopen.

I have broken down in the Neasden underpass on the A406, is there anywhere to get to?

Not inside the underpass. If the car is still rolling, keep going to the Brent Park or Drury Way exit and stop on the slip. If it has died in the underpass, stay in the car with your hazards on, call 999 if you are in a live lane, then ring us and we will attend as soon as it is safe.

My scooter will not start outside the Arena at midnight, can you take it and me?

Yes, the bike goes upright on the flatbed, strapped and covered, and you ride in the cab. We drop you both at home or at a dealer, and the price for the whole trip is agreed before we set off.
