Vehicle Recovery in Stratford: Bow Interchange to the Olympic Park
Stratford is where three of east London’s busiest roads meet in a very small space. The A12 comes up from the Blackwall Tunnel and drops into the Bow Interchange, the A11 crosses it on the Bow flyover, and the A118 Romford Road feeds in from the Ilford side. Add the Westfield car parks, the London Stadium and one of the busiest stations in the country, and you have an area where a breakdown is rarely in a convenient spot.
K9 Recovery has more drivers and heavier kit in London than anywhere else in the UK, and Stratford is one of the postcodes they work most. We are a 24/7, 365-day service with no membership and no call-centre queue: ring 07301 118118, speak to a person, and get a clear price agreed before the truck rolls.

Where Stratford breakdowns actually happen
- A12 at Bow: the Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach is a red route with no hard shoulder. If you have stopped between the tunnel and the Bow roundabout, stay behind the barrier where you can and tell us which direction you were heading, because we approach from the Bow Interchange slip rather than fight the tunnel queue.
- Bow flyover: the A11 over the top is narrow and fast. We do not ask you to wait on it; we get to the bottom of the ramp and work from there.
- Westfield Stratford City: the multi-storey car parks have height limits that rule out most recovery trucks. We send a low-profile vehicle or bring the car to the exit ramp under its own power where it is safe to do so.
- Stratford town centre: Great Eastern Road, Broadway and The Grove are heavy with bus lanes and loading bays. We time the lift so the truck is in and out before a bus lane camera becomes your problem.
- Leyton and Temple Mills: the A112 Leyton High Road and Ruckholt Road serve a lot of trade vans and the industrial units around Temple Mills. Our van recovery in Stratford covers everything from a Transit Custom to a 3.5-tonne Luton.
- Olympic Park event days: Westfield Avenue and Montfichet Road are managed by stewards on match days at the London Stadium. We know the closure pattern and which entrances remain open to recovery vehicles.
What we recover from E15 and E20
Cars, vans, 4x4s, motorcycles, taxis, non-runners and anything prestige or classic that you would rather not see winched carelessly. Electric vehicles are carried on a flatbed only, never towed on their driven wheels, which matters in Stratford where a lot of the private-hire fleet is electric. Caravans and motorhomes coming off the A12 for the Lee Valley sites are within scope too.
Onward transport, not just the nearest kerb
A recovery in Stratford does not have to end at the closest garage. If your usual mechanic is in Romford, Chelmsford or the other side of the country, we take the vehicle there. Our 3,000 vetted drivers across the UK mean one call covers the whole journey, and the London heavy team handles anything up to around 30 tonnes when a bigger truck or bus needs moving.
The Stratford response in practice
Because of the concentration of trucks around east London, Stratford typically gets the quickest response we can offer anywhere in the country. Our page on vehicle recovery across London explains how the wider network works, but for Stratford specifically the driver is usually already on the A12, A11 or A118 corridor rather than crossing the city to reach you.
Why Stratford drivers ring us again
We are fully insured and rated 4.9/5 from more than 200 Google reviews. A night-time job, a vehicle that turns out to be awkward to load, a longer run than expected: none of it changes the figure. The number you agree before the truck rolls is the number on the invoice. Save 07301 118118 before you need it.

Stratford recovery questions we get asked
I have broken down on the A12 just before the Bow roundabout. Where should I wait?
Get as far left as the road allows, hazards on, and if there is a barrier or verge, wait behind it rather than in the vehicle. Tell us your direction of travel and the nearest gantry or exit sign; the driver will come in via the Bow Interchange and pull in behind you with the beacons running to shield the lane.
Can you get a recovery truck into the Westfield Stratford car park?
Not a full-size one; the height barriers stop it. We either send a lower vehicle that clears the entrance or, where the car will roll, bring it down to the exit and load on the service road. We confirm which on the phone so you are not waiting in a car park for a truck that cannot get in.
West Ham are at home today. Will you still reach me at the Olympic Park?
Yes. Match days bring stewarded closures around the stadium, but the recovery vehicle can still get through on the routes kept open for emergency and service traffic. We will ask which side of the park you are on so we approach from the right one rather than from Stratford station.
Neighbouring areas we also cover
From Stratford our trucks run into Hackney, out along the A118 to Ilford and down the A12 to Canary Wharf. The full list is on our areas page.
