Vehicle Recovery in Camden: One-Way Streets, Two Charging Zones
Camden Town is the only place on this list where the road layout, the charging zones and the crowds all work against you at the same time. Camden High Street runs one-way northbound through the middle, the loop back is via Kentish Town Road and Camden Street, and on a weekend the stretch between the tube and the Lock is effectively a footpath with buses in it. South of that, Euston Road is the boundary of the congestion charge zone as well as a red route, and the whole borough sits inside the ULEZ. A breakdown here needs someone who has done it before.
K9 Recovery is a 24-hour, 365-day recovery company whose largest driver pool and heaviest trucks are in London. No membership, no call-centre queue, and a price agreed before the truck rolls. Ring 07301 118118.

The Camden Town loop
If the car stops on Camden High Street, it is in a bus lane, on a one-way street, with market traffic behind it. The driver enters the loop from Camden Road or from Parkway and comes up behind you; he cannot come at you from the Lock end. If the vehicle rolls, we push it into Buck Street or Inverness Street so the load happens off the main street. On Kentish Town Road and Camden Street the same applies in the other direction. We say all this on the phone so you are not guessing where to look.
Camden Road, Chalk Farm and the Lock
The A503 Camden Road past the overground station is a fast, straight run with cameras, and a lot of our calls come from the bridge section by Royal College Street. Chalk Farm Road over the canal bridge is the market itself; on a Saturday we do not attempt a lift there before the crowds thin, and we tell you honestly what time that is. The Roundhouse on show nights closes the surrounding streets to everything but service traffic, which includes us.
Euston Road and King’s Cross
The A501 Euston Road is a red route with an underpass, camera enforcement and taxi ranks at Euston, St Pancras and King’s Cross. A car that dies here has to move quickly. We approach in your direction of travel, shield the lane and load in one go. Around the stations, York Way and Pancras Road have set-down bays we can use for a minute; Goods Way behind St Pancras is often the easiest place to meet.
Charging zones, plainly
- Camden Town and Kentish Town are in the ULEZ but outside the congestion charge.
- Euston Road is the edge of the congestion charge zone; anything south of it, including Bloomsbury, is inside.
- Camden’s controlled parking zones run late into the evening in most of NW1, so a dead car on a resident bay collects a ticket even with the hazards on.
- Whatever zone you are in, the figure we agree on the phone is the figure you pay.
What we carry from NW1
Cars, 4x4s, motorcycles and scooters, black cabs and private-hire cars, prestige and classic vehicles, caravans and motorhomes that have wandered into the borough, and non-runners. Electric vehicles are always on a flatbed, never towed. Trade vans are covered in detail on our Camden van recovery page. The London heavy team takes anything up to around 30 tonnes.
Anywhere afterwards, one call
The vehicle can go to a garage in Kentish Town or to an address at the other end of the UK; 3,000 vetted drivers nationwide make that one booking, and every job is fully insured. We are rated 4.9/5 from more than 200 Google reviews. Camden is a central part of our London vehicle recovery service, which is why the truck is rarely far away.

Camden and King’s Cross recovery questions
My car has broken down on Camden High Street on a Saturday afternoon. How long before you can move it?
We will come straight away, but the load itself may have to wait for a gap in the market crowd. If the car rolls, the quickest fix is to get it into Buck Street or Inverness Street with our help so the lift happens off the High Street. We give you a realistic time on the phone rather than an optimistic one.
I have stopped on the Euston Road underpass. Is that a recovery you handle?
Yes, treated as a live-lane job. Stay in the car with the hazards on unless you can reach the pavement safely, and tell us which direction. The truck comes in behind you, shields the lane and loads without delay; the police are sometimes there first and we work with them.
Will taking my car out of the congestion charge zone cost extra?
The price agreed before the truck rolls is the full price for the job. Where the car is going, and which zones the route crosses, is settled at the quote stage, not added afterwards.
