HGV & Lorry Recovery Dagenham | 24/7 Heavy Recovery to 30 Tonnes

Dagenham Dock to Ripple Road: heavy truck recovery when the job stops

Dagenham has been an industrial town for a century and still moves more heavy freight than almost anywhere else inside the M25. Container haulage and bulk cargo come off the river at Dagenham Dock, the London Sustainable Industries Park and the CEME site on Marsh Way generate a steady flow of plant, tankers and walking-floor trailers, and the vast former Ford estate between Chequers Lane and Kent Avenue is now a patchwork of logistics sheds and engine production that all take artics through the gates.

Every one of those movements funnels onto the A13 at Ripple Road or Choats Road, which is why K9 Recovery keeps heavy underlift capacity within easy reach of Dagenham around the clock.

What actually breaks down here

The mix in Dagenham is unusual. We recover far more tankers and bulk tippers than in most London boroughs because of the fuel terminals and materials recycling along the riverside, and a surprising number of reefers feeding the food distribution units along Choats Road. Add the container skeletals running to and from the dock and the muck-away wagons serving the housing schemes on the old industrial land, and you get a queue of heavy vehicles that a single failed injector or blown air line can bring to a stop.

A13 Ripple Road and the Goresbrook interchange

Between Goresbrook and the Lodge Avenue flyover the A13 has no refuge worth the name. A rigid that loses air pressure here sits in a live lane with traffic passing at speed. Our operators come in on the correct carriageway, protect the scene with the recovery vehicle, lift and clear. Because our London fleet is the biggest and heaviest we run anywhere, that first vehicle is normally the one that finishes the job rather than a scout sent to have a look.

Chequers Lane and the railway bridge

Chequers Lane carries the estate traffic under the railway and down to the dock. It is narrow for a lorry route, has kerbs that punish a misjudged turn, and a breakdown between the bridge and the Kent Avenue roundabout shuts the whole approach. We prioritise these because nothing else can get past.

Artics, rigids and what we can lift

Our heavy underlifts handle 7.5-tonne, 18-tonne and 26-tonne rigids and articulated lorries up to around 30 tonnes. Loaded trailers are recovered as a combination wherever the tractor unit can be safely suspended; where the tractor has to come away on its own, we can bring a second unit to move the trailer. Full details of the equipment are on our articulated lorry recovery page.

Crane and HIAB work at the dock and CEME

The dock and the industries park are where our HIAB and crane capability earns its keep. Twenty-foot containers dropped short of a stack, compactors and shredding plant that have failed on site, generators, welfare cabins and site machinery on the Marsh Way developments: if it is awkward, heavy and needs picking up rather than towing, that is the kit we send.

Dagenham lorry recovery FAQ

Is there restricted access for recovery trucks at Dagenham Dock?

Some terminals need visitor booking or a site escort. Tell us when you call and we will give the operator’s vehicle details to your site office so the recovery truck is not held at the gate. Our operators carry ID and hi-vis as standard.

My tanker has broken down on Choats Road with product on board. What happens?

Give us the product and whether it is hazardous. For non-hazardous loads we recover the vehicle as it stands. Where there is an ADR consideration we arrange the recovery with the driver and your transport office to make sure the paperwork and placards travel with the vehicle and the destination can receive it.

Can you get a 26-tonne rigid out of the Sustainable Industries Park at night?

Yes. The park is a 24-hour site and so are we. Night call-outs to Choats Road and Marsh Way are routine for our east London drivers, and the price you agree on the phone is the price you pay regardless of the hour.

How K9 pricing works: your job is priced across 3,000 vetted UK drivers and the price is confirmed on WhatsApp before anything moves. No call-out fee. No breakdown cover or membership needed. Typical arrival 15 to 45 minutes in towns and cities, traffic depending, and 24/7 across the UK. Get a price in minutes → or call 07301 118118.
