What counts as a non-runner
Anything that cannot be safely or legally driven: a dead engine, a blown gearbox, no MOT, accident damage, or a project car that has sat for years. It needs moving on a truck — and we have the right one.
How we move it
- Flatbed & winch — loaded without keys, drive or MOT.
- To wherever you need — your garage, a buyer, a yard or storage.
- Any condition — damaged, stripped, or barely rolling.
Selling or clearing a non-runner?
Many non-runners sell to traders and rebuilders across London. If you sell, the buyer often needs it collected — point them our way, or arrange it yourself. See non-runner transport and vehicle transport in London.

A non-runner stuck in a Barbican Estate car park: getting it out
A tired project car, left untouched for two winters in the underground car park at the Barbican Estate, will not start, will not go into neutral, and the battery is long dead. A standard flatbed cannot get anywhere near it, so the first question on the call is the headroom of the car park entrance and the exact level the car is parked on.
Where the ceiling height rules out a full-size truck, a smaller spec-lift vehicle is sent instead, built to work in tight underground bays. Skates go under any wheel that will not turn, and the car is winched out level rather than dragged, which matters when a handbrake has seized on.
Once it is clear of the car park, the same vehicle usually carries it the rest of the way, whether that is to a buyer, a workshop, or a yard, without a second transfer onto another truck partway through the job. The cost for the whole job, car park included, is settled on WhatsApp before the truck sets off, so nothing extra gets added for the awkward access.
Height limits and tight turns: where a non-runner recovery gets tricky
Non-runners tend to collect in places that are hard to reach, which is exactly why they became non-runners in the first place.
- Underground and multi-storey car parks such as those at Westfield Stratford City or Brent Cross: height barriers mean the right vehicle has to be chosen before the driver leaves base.
- Exhibition and event car parks like Olympia: tight ramps and low beams that rule out a standard flatbed on certain levels.
- Housing estates such as Trellick Tower: narrow access roads and resident parking bays that need a smaller truck and a careful approach.
- Town centre car parks including Lewisham Centre and NCP Chinatown: barriers, ticket machines and low ceilings that all need checking before arrival.
- Driveways and mews with a single narrow entrance: common around estates like Elephant Park, where a winch from the street is sometimes the only option.
In every one of these spots, giving the car park name or the postcode up front saves a wasted first trip in the wrong vehicle.
What we need to know before the truck sets off
Four questions settle most of the job before the driver even leaves: does the car roll, does it steer, is there a key, and can it be put into neutral. A car that fails all four needs a winch and skates, while one that rolls freely needs much less equipment.
Tell us exactly where it is parked, including any height limit on a car park or an archway, since that decides which vehicle is sent. If it is not taxed, not MOTd, or is SORN, that is fine; a non-runner moved on a flatbed does not need to be road legal.
Most non-runners go to one of three places: a buyer who has already agreed to take it, a specialist workshop, or a yard for scrap or parts. Tell us which when you call and the driver heads straight there. Long-parked cars cleared from a driveway or a street usually follow the same route, often to a trader who takes non-runners as a matter of course.
