Getting a Recovery Truck Through Wandsworth
The Wandsworth one-way system is the thing everyone mentions. Armoury Way, Wandsworth High Street, Swandon Way and Fairfield Street push the A3 round the town centre in a loop, with the Wandsworth Bridge roundabout bolted onto the top and the Southside car park in the middle. A car that stops in that loop stops a lot of other people, and a recovery truck that enters it from the wrong arm loses ten minutes going round again. We do not do that. Our drivers read the loop before they commit, and they tell you on the phone which side they will arrive from.
K9 Recovery runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. London is where we have the most drivers and the heaviest equipment of anywhere in the UK, so Wandsworth, Earlsfield, Southfields and Battersea are covered by people who are already close. Ring 07301 118118 and the price is agreed before anyone moves.

The roads that generate our Wandsworth work
- A3 Wandsworth one-way system: stall on Armoury Way or Swandon Way and you are in a bus lane within seconds. We load fast and use the side streets off Ram Street where we can.
- Wandsworth Bridge and the A217 roundabout: the bridge feeds Fulham traffic straight into the loop. A breakdown on the bridge deck is a live-lane lift; we approach from the Wandsworth side and shield the lane.
- Garratt Lane to Earlsfield: long, straight, lined with parked cars and buses. We pick a gap by Earlsfield station or a side turning rather than block the lane outside the shops.
- A205 South Circular and West Hill: the climb from the one-way system to Tibbet’s Corner finds out tired clutches. Wide enough to load, but fast, so we position properly.
- Southfields and Wimbledon Park Road: quiet residential streets with permit parking and a lot of EVs on chargers. Electric cars go on a flatbed, never towed.
- Battersea: York Road, Battersea Park Road and the roads around the power station development are all bus corridors with red-route sections. We know where the truck can legally stand.
Flat battery or something worse
A fair share of Wandsworth calls turn out to be a battery that has given up outside Clapham Junction or in the Southside car park after a week of short trips. If that is all it is, our London jump-start service gets you moving without a full recovery. If it is more than that, the truck is already the right answer and we say so rather than send two vehicles.
What goes on the truck
Cars, vans, 4x4s, motorcycles, taxis, prestige and classic vehicles, caravans, motorhomes and non-runners. Heavier vehicles up to around 30 tonnes are handled by the London heavy team, which operates across the river as well as south of it.
Taking it further than Wandsworth
The vehicle can go to the garage on Garratt Lane or to a specialist anywhere in the UK on the same booking. With 3,000 vetted drivers nationwide we do not need to hand you to another company halfway. Every job is fully insured, no membership is needed, and there is no call-centre queue.
The record
4.9/5 from more than 200 Google reviews, many written by people who were standing on the Wandsworth Bridge roundabout when they rang. See how the wider operation works on our London vehicle recovery page.

Questions from Wandsworth and Battersea
I am stuck on the Wandsworth one-way system in the morning peak. Where exactly will you meet me?
Wherever you are, but we will tell you the approach first. If you are on Armoury Way the truck comes round from the Wandsworth Bridge roundabout; if you are on Swandon Way it comes in from the bridge side. Do not try to move to a different arm to help; stay put, hazards on, and let the driver plan around you.
Can you recover from the Southside shopping centre car park?
Yes, with the right vehicle. The covered levels have height restrictions that stop a full-size truck, so we either send a lower vehicle or, if the car still rolls, meet it at the exit on Garratt Lane. Tell us the level and whether it moves.
There is a match or a concert at Battersea Park and the roads are closed. Will you still come?
We will. Event closures around Battersea Park and the power station are stewarded, and recovery vehicles are let through on the service routes. Give us the street and we approach from the Queenstown Road or Albert Bridge Road side as appropriate.
