Sutton vehicle recovery, from Rosehill roundabout to the Cheam side
Sutton drivers spend their lives going round things. Rosehill roundabout at the top of the A217, where the St Helier estate meets the Morden side, is the one everyone knows, and a car that stops on its approaches blocks the whole junction. Then there is the Sutton town centre gyratory, with the High Street pedestrianised through the middle and traffic pushed onto St Nicholas Way, Throwley Way and the multi-storeys behind them. Cheam has its own one-way village loop around The Broadway, Carshalton has the ponds and the narrow High Street, and Wallington sits on the A232 with the Croydon-bound crawl. Our drivers cover it all 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The A217 spine
The A217 is the working road through Sutton. It comes down from Rosehill as Rose Hill and Sutton Common Road, passes Sutton station, and heads out through Belmont to Banstead and the M25 at Reigate. It is red route for most of its length inside the borough, so we cannot leave a flatbed sitting on it. If the car will roll, Sutton Common Road has side streets where we load without blocking anything; if it will not, we lift and go. Sutton Hospital and the Royal Marsden at Belmont are just off this road and both car parks are regular pick-ups for cars that would not start after a long visit.
Sutton town centre and the gyratory
The High Street is closed to traffic between the station and the Cheam Road end, so a breakdown in the town centre is nearly always on the gyratory or in a car park. The St Nicholas centre and Times Square car parks have height limits that stop a recovery truck entering, so we meet you at the exit barrier or send the driver in on foot to try a jump start first. The gyratory is camera enforced and bus-heavy, and our drivers come round it once, load from the bay or side road we have agreed on the phone, and leave, rather than circling looking for you.
Cheam, Carshalton, Wallington and St Helier
- Cheam: the A2043 Malden Road and the village one-way loop, with Nonsuch Park on the doorstep where cars are left overnight and found dead in the morning.
- Carshalton: narrow, historic, with the ponds and the level crossing at Carshalton station, both places we get to fast when a car is stationary.
- Wallington: the A232 Stafford Road towards Croydon, the Woodcote Road shops and the Wallington station car park.
- St Helier: St Helier Hospital on Wrythe Lane, with the estate roads around it where a long flatbed needs a bit of planning to turn.
Vans across the borough
Sutton has a busy trades community and a lot of vans working out of the Kimpton industrial estate and the units off the A217. A van that stops with a full load needs to be somewhere secure the same day, and our Sutton van recovery page explains how we do that, including for high-roof and long-wheelbase vans and for onward transport to a depot elsewhere in the country.
Everything else you need to know
We recover cars, 4x4s, electric vehicles on a flatbed with the driven wheels off the ground, motorcycles, prestige and classic cars, taxis and private hire, caravans and motorhomes, and non-runners. The destination can be a garage in Sutton or an address at the other end of the UK. There is no membership and no call-centre queue; you ring 07301 118118, a person answers, and the price is agreed before the truck moves. Every recovery is fully insured. Google reviewers score us 4.9 out of 5 from over 200 reviews, and because Sutton is inside our London vehicle recovery patch, where we keep the most drivers of our 3,000-strong network, you get the quickest response we can offer anywhere.

Sutton questions answered by a local driver
The car has died on the approach to Rosehill roundabout, which side should I try to get to?
If it will roll, the Rose Hill side has more kerb than the St Helier Avenue approach, and the parade of shops has a service road our flatbed can use. If it will not roll, put the hazards on, get out on the pavement side and ring us with the arm you are on so we come round the right way.
I have a flat battery in the St Nicholas centre multi-storey, do I have to get the car outside?
Not to start with. The driver will come in on foot with a jump pack and try that first. If the car still needs recovering, we will ask you to get it to the exit ramp, because the barrier height keeps the truck out.
Can you recover a caravan from the A217 at Belmont and take it to a site outside London?
Yes, caravans and motorhomes are part of the standard service, and the trip can be to anywhere in the UK. Tell us the length and whether it has a working hitch, and we will send the right truck with the price for the whole journey agreed up front.
