Recovering vehicles on and around Harrow-on-the-Hill
Harrow has a hill in the middle of it, and that shapes the job. The roads up to the school and St Mary’s church are steep, narrow and lined with parked cars, and a vehicle that stops on Grove Hill or Peterborough Road needs a driver who can position a flatbed on a gradient and winch uphill without rolling anything. Around the base of the hill you have the A409 through Wealdstone and Harrow Weald, the A404 Pinner Road and Harrow Road running east to west, the A410 Uxbridge Road across Stanmore and Hatch End, and the Harrow town centre one-way loop around St Ann’s and College Road with its bus station and car park entrances.
We run Harrow 24 hours a day, every day of the year, from a London network that has more drivers and heavier trucks than any other part of the country.

The roads, one by one
A409 Wealdstone, Harrow Weald and the Kenton side
The stretch through Wealdstone High Street is congested with buses and delivery vans, and a stalled car there will get a horn chorus in seconds. We load from side streets off the High Street where possible. Northbound towards Harrow Weald and the A410 junction the road opens up past the old Kodak site. The Kenton Road end has the Northwick Park Hospital approach, where cars with flat batteries in the car park are a weekly call for our drivers.
A404 Pinner Road and Harrow Road
A long east-west run from Pinner through North Harrow to Sudbury. It is a red route in places, so we ask exactly where you are before we set off, and we will often suggest you wait in a bay on a side road rather than on the main line. Pinner village itself has narrow streets around the High Street and Bridge Street that a long flatbed takes carefully.
A410 Uxbridge Road, Stanmore and Hatch End
Stanmore is the end of the Jubilee line and its station car park fills with commuter cars, some of which will not start at seven in the evening. We collect from there regularly. The A410 towards Hatch End has the Brookshill and Old Redding lanes off it, where a car that has left the road in wet weather usually needs winching before it can be lifted.
Harrow town centre and the hill
The one-way system around St Ann’s Road, College Road and Station Road is tight, and the St Ann’s and St George’s car parks have height barriers a truck cannot pass, so we meet you at the exit. On the hill itself we load on the flattest available section, chock the wheels and winch rather than trying to drive a non-runner onto the bed.
Vans and trade traffic across Harrow
Harrow has a lot of small trades vans and a busy cluster of units around Wealdstone and Honeypot Lane. When one stops with a full load we recover it the same day to wherever you need it, and if you want the detail on loaded commercials, high-roof vans and secure onward transport, read our Harrow van recovery page.

Questions from Harrow drivers
My car has stopped halfway up Grove Hill, can you actually get a flatbed up there?
Yes, our drivers approach from the top or the bottom depending on where you are and which way the car is facing, chock the wheels, and winch it onto the bed rather than trying to drive it. It takes a few minutes longer than a flat road but it is routine for anyone who works Harrow.
I am in the St George’s shopping centre car park with a flat battery, where do I meet you?
The height barrier stops a truck getting in, so we will either send a driver in on foot with a jump pack, or ask you to get the car to the exit ramp where we can load. Tell us which level you are on when you ring and we will decide the quickest option.
Does the Harrow town centre one-way system slow the truck down?
Not if the driver knows it, and ours do. We come in on the loop from whichever side gets us to you without doubling back, load from a side road or a bay rather than the bus stops, and leave via the same loop.
