What is a flatbed?
A flatbed (or tilt-and-slide) recovery truck has a flat platform that lowers to the ground so a vehicle can be winched fully onto it — all four wheels off the road. It is the safest way to move most vehicles.

- Accident-damaged vehicles — where towing would cause more harm.
- Electric cars — most EVs must not be flat-towed, so they travel on a flatbed.
