Never walk on a motorway
If you have run dry on a motorway or a fast dual carriageway, do not attempt to walk to a services or a fuel station. Walking on a live carriageway or hard shoulder is extremely dangerous. Instead, get everyone out of the vehicle on the side away from traffic if it is safe, stand behind the barrier, and call for help. On a smart motorway with no hard shoulder, if you cannot reach an emergency refuge area, stay belted in with hazards on and dial 999 if you feel unsafe, then call us to arrange fuel or recovery.
What if the car will not start afterwards?
Occasionally, running completely dry, especially in a diesel, can introduce air into the fuel system so the car will not restart even once fuel is added. If that happens, we can recover the vehicle to a garage on a flatbed instead. Our breakdown recovery service handles exactly this kind of situation, so you are never left stuck. If it’s broken down, we can move it.
Electric vehicle out of charge
An electric vehicle that has run out of charge is a different matter. You cannot pour in a can of fuel, and roadside charging usually is not practical. In almost every case a flat EV needs recovering by flatbed to a charge point or your home, and it should not be towed conventionally as this can damage the motor. We recover EVs safely and know how to handle them, so just call and tell us it is electric.

Enough to get you safely to the nearest filling station, where you can then fill up as normal. This keeps the cost sensible while getting you moving again quickly.
I have run out on the motorway. What should I do?
Do not walk along the carriageway. Get out on the side away from traffic if safe, stand behind the barrier, and call us. If you feel in danger, dial 999. We will get a driver to you as quickly as possible.
Do I need to be a member?
No. There is no membership and no joining fee. You pay for the fuel and the call-out when you need it, and because drivers compete for the work, the price stays keen.
My electric car has run out of charge. Can you bring power?
Roadside charging is rarely practical, so a flat EV normally needs recovering by flatbed to a charge point or your home. We do this safely. Just tell us it is electric when you call.
