Do You Need to Be There for Car Collection & Delivery?

One of the most common questions we get when booking a move: “Do I actually have to be there?” The short answer is usually no — but a little planning makes it smooth. Here’s how collection and delivery work.

At collection

Someone needs to hand over the keys and give access to the vehicle — but it doesn’t have to be you. It can be the seller, a friend, or a colleague. Buying from an auction? The site releases the car against your paperwork, so no one needs to be there on your side at all.

At delivery

Ideally someone’s there to receive the car, check it over and confirm it’s arrived as expected. Again, it can be a nominated person rather than you personally. If the car’s a non-runner, we’ll place it where you need it.

If nobody can be present

It’s usually still workable — a nominated contact, a pre-arranged key handover, or auction release paperwork all cover it. The key is telling us up front so we can plan it properly.

What to have ready

  • Keys and any access codes or gate passes.
  • A contact number for both ends.
  • Any known issues with the vehicle (won’t start, won’t roll, etc.).
